Our annual Good Cop Bad Cop Model United Nations conference has become a regular calendar fixture for many schools around the world. Providing a global, online debating platform for 15–18-year-olds involving 400 pupils from 30 schools in 30+ countries, it is always themed around climate change and based largely on resolutions from the latest international COP conference. Good Cop Bad Cop provides a powerful, dynamic and real-time experience to negotiate with peers, build empathy and inspire participants to be innovators, change-makers and solution-finders. Many want to discover more about the world, particularly China, as a result of their participation. We are always amazed at the high calibre of debate, how much young people are capable of and how passionate they can be.

The ‘Good Cop’ conference from Engage with China is a unique and rewarding experience and provides a stimulating opportunity to build cultural literacy in the west.

Theo, Vice President of Good COP Bad COP 2024

New for 2026 is a resolution on biodiversity protection to reflect the fact that COP30 will be held in Brazil

This year’s Good Cop Bad Cop took place on Friday 28 February 2025 from 10:00 Hours-14:00 hours GMT bringing pupils online across multiple time zones. Partnering with our Host School, The King’s School Macclesfield, and bringing together government/state and private schools, our conference continues to promote educational equality and opportunity. It is ultimately pupil-led on the day, providing exceptional leadership opportunities as well as enhancing critical oracy skills.

I am grateful to have had the honour of welcoming all pupils to Good COP Bad COP 4. Climate change is an issue that stands as the biggest threat to our way of life. It is one that cannot be conquered alone. The only way we can save our planet is to put our individual and ideological differences aside and offer up a cooperative solution where we all perform our role in making a differenceBeing able to interact with peers from around the world was awesome. I am hopeful that with global cooperation and discussion, we can protect our home and keep our planet healthy for future generations to come,” Toby Hall, President, Good COP Bad COP 4
