He started in 1983 in Beijing, subsequently moving to Shanghai, where he managed the China shipping interests for the international investment company Jardine Matheson through the explosive growth period of the late 90’s and early 2000’s. He then became a Director for China at Hayward Tyler, a UK engineering manufacturer. More recently Charles has completed an MA in Sinology from SOAS, London University, when he also taught Mandarin in UK secondary schools, including both GCSE and ‘A’ level.
