Peter Batey co-founded Vermilion Partners and is its Chairman. He has advised foreign companies on the development of their businesses in China since 1986. He graduated from Oxford University and soon after became political private secretary to Sir Edward Heath, the former British Prime Minister who restored diplomatic relations with China.

Michael Cole-Fontayn is Chairman of the Association for Financial Markets in Europe, having previously been Chairman, Europe, Middle East & Africa for BNY Mellon. He is also Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (CISI), a member and co-chair of the Wholesale Banking Group of the European Financial Services Chairman’s Advisory Council, a member of the Advisory Council and the Financial Services Skills Taskforce of TheCityUK, and member of FICC Markets Standards Board Advisory Council. He is also a member of the Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum Advisory Board and a Board and Executive Committee Member of the Global Financial Markets Association.
Charles is fully bilingual in spoken business Chinese and, through on-the-ground experience, has knowledge of how modern China works. He started in 1983 in Beijing, subsequently moving to Shanghai, where he managed the China shipping interests for the international investment company Jardine Matheson through the explosive growth period of the late 90’s and early 2000’s. He then became a Director for China at Hayward Tyler, a UK engineering manufacturer. More recently Charles has completed an MA in Sinology from SOAS, London University, when he also taught Mandarin in UK secondary schools, including both GCSE and ‘A’ level.

Amanda Mellor is Group Secretary of Standard Chartered Bank PLC. Prior to that, she held posts as Head of Group Governance at M&S and head of Investor Relations at M&S. She is also a visiting professor of the Inter-Disciplinary Ethics Applied Centre at the University of Leeds.
