Policies and Guidance

Engage with China Limited is committed to creating safe, respectful, and supportive environments for everyone involved in our work.

Safeguarding underpins all our activities, whether delivered:

  • in partnership with UK schools
  • through overseas scholarships and exchanges
  • via online talks, workshops, and meetings

We take our responsibility seriously and work to ensure that children, young people, and vulnerable adults are protected from harm.

We recognise that safeguarding is not a one-size-fits-all process. Our activities take place across different settings, cultures, and countries, and our safeguarding arrangements reflect this.

Our approach is based on:

  • clear professional boundaries
  • shared responsibility with schools and partner institutions
  • openness and transparency
  • prompt action when concerns are raised

Safeguarding is the responsibility of everyone working with or on behalf of Engage with China.

This section sets out how safeguarding works in practice at Engage with China, including:

  • our Safeguarding Policy, which explains how we protect children and vulnerable adults
  • our Code of Conduct, which outlines expected standards of behaviour
  • our Whistleblowing Policy, which explains how concerns can be raised safely
  • our Safer Recruitment Policy, which shows how safeguarding is embedded in recruitment

Together, these policies form our safeguarding framework.

If you have a safeguarding concern relating to Engage with China, we encourage you to raise it promptly. Information on how to do this is included within our policies.

All concerns are taken seriously and handled sensitively.

Safeguarding is not static. We review our policies regularly and update them in line with best practice and the evolving nature of our work.

We are committed to learning, accountability, and putting wellbeing at the centre of everything we do.
