Community Partnerships

Working with city partners, our annual Chinese New Year event in Worcester attracts 1,400+ visitors and dignitaries from across the region for a day of free, family fun involving musical entertainment, tea ceremony, calligraphy, craft activities and a traditional lion dance. Attracting diverse communities and providing engaging activities serves to build the profile of the city and its sister-city links as well as wider understanding of China.

Chinese New Year in Worcester has become a much-loved favourite in the city’s annual events calendar due to its combination of cultural, fun-filled activities, musical performances and Chinese traditions. Visitors love the spectacle, noise and drama of the lion dance, the opportunities for creativity through calligraphy and painting and the calming tradition of the tea ceremony.
